About CKSRVS

I’m Dr. Katie Jackson. I grew up in the small town of Kearneysville, West Virginia. I’ve had goats since I was 7.

Growing up we didn’t always have great veterinary care readily available. Even if we could get a vet to come out to see “just a goat,” it was luck of the draw whether they would know enough about goats to make a difference. We learned the hard way to do many things ourselves.

My passion for livestock fueled me throughout school. I was on numerous 4-H, FFA, and collegiate judging teams. While pursuing undergraduate and master’s degrees at the University of Kentucky in Biosystems Engineering, I became very focused on dairy cattle and how I could apply some of those concepts to small ruminants. During vet school, throughout my notes I would reference animals that I had lost as a way to make concepts “stick.”

All these experiences have shaped how I practice today. I want to help all levels of small ruminant producers succeed. I offer introductory consultations for those just starting out, where we can cover the most basic of questions as well as assess things like facilities, nutrition, and common small ruminant emergencies. I work with experienced producers to troubleshoot emergencies and reduce risk of future problems. I plan to soon offer advanced reproductive technologies such as laparoscopic AI and embryo transfer.

Contact me to see how I can help you and your herd meet your goals. I look forward to working with you.
